Observations on NJCCCS and NETS
Here's an observation from my review of NJCCCS and NETS: When I look at 8th grade competencies in NJCCCS I am generally struck by the challenges that teachers face in ensuring that their students work hard, and stay on track to meet them. In contrast, 8th graders tend to come to the classroom with the NETS competencies quite well established. I realize this is a sweeping generalization, but I wonder if others have made similar (or contrasting) observations.

When I taught first grade, I would look at the standards and think -- Wow, how times have changed!
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting!
This is definitely true! I notice that most of the 8th graders I've come across, during my student teaching, could just teach the teacher! They have them established. The challenge comes redirecting them and using their abilities and skills in a productive manner.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you! Thanks! :)
